“Between Black and White”
A Contemporary Art Exhibition Exploring Contrast, Balance, and the Power of Minimal

Poughkeepsie, NY. Between Black and White, a new group exhibition featuring four contemporary artists working across diverse media, opens at Gallery 40 on June 20. The exhibition brings together painting, textile, photography, and mixed media works that explore the expressive possibilities of the black-and-white palette, punctuated by subtle and intentional splashes of color.

Rooted in the visual tension between darkness and light, Between Black and White invites viewers to experience how limitation can expand artistic language. Each artist approaches the restrained palette differently—some embracing stark monochromatic contrasts, others introducing moments of color as emotional or conceptual interruptions within the composition.

The four participating artists present distinct perspectives and techniques. From bold graphic abstractions to delicate photographic studies and tactile sculptural forms, the works demonstrate how a minimal palette can amplify form, texture, movement, and meaning.
