About this Event
Come as strangers, leave as friends.
Bersemuka is a social workshop shaped by guided conversation, an invitation for diaspora communities in Vancouver to gather, listen, and reflect on identity and belonging.
Rooted in a phrase that signals the Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ character this Ramadan, his way of welcoming people from all walks of life, you can sit with us becomes more than words. It is a posture of openness, mercy, and shared humanity.
Across many faiths and traditions, similar wisdom lives on: our differences are signs to be appreciated, not barriers meant to divide us.
First held in Kuala Lumpur by Ahl Umran Network, Bersemuka creates a space that feels like storytelling, gentle networking, and healing conversation—held together by care.
Hosted by NusaHaus as part of KopiJam, a community-led series blending dialogue, culture, and creativity, this gathering offers a place of belonging for Southeast Asians, Muslims, and other BIPOC folks in Vancouver at VS Creative Labs.
