Beneath the Surface is a program designed to heal, support, and love for LGBTQIA+ community, celebrating our unseen aspects.
About this Event

Beneath the Surface:

Beneath the Surface is a program designed for the LGBTQIA+ community to foster healing, support, love, and a celebration of the aspects of ourselves that aren't immediately apparent. Our sessions are carefully tailored around neurodiversity and mental wellness in our community as we recognize the universal desire to be acknowledged, listened to, and comprehended. BTS is committed to presenting positive strategies for navigating life's challenges, cultivating a sense of community, imparting new skills, and ensuring everyone has the freedom to move in their bodies and communicate openly and safely in a welcoming and affirmative space.

This initiative is built from 4 pillars:
Moments of Movement/Mindfulness, Growth, Reflection, and Connection.

Objective:

Our primary aim is to foster a caring and enriching atmosphere that encourages participants to delve into and evolve the unseen facets of their identity, including emotional health, personal advancement, and mindfulness. Through a diverse range of experiences and educational moments, we strive to assist individuals in recognizing and honoring their innermost selves, thereby enhancing overall wellness.
Goals & Vision:
This project envisions a world where the LGBTQIA+ community has the opportunity to grow, heal, and celebrate the deeper, often hidden, qualities and potentials. This vision includes promoting holistic well-being, personal growth, and a sense of belonging within thecommunity.

Ultimately, the goal of "Beneath the Surface" is to create a nurturing and empowering environment where LGBTQIA+ individuals can explore, celebrate, and affirm their authentic selves, leading to personal growth, resilience, and a stronger sense of community and
well-being within the LGBTQIA+ community.

Program:

  • Date: 21 April, 2024
  • Time: Start 10 (arrivals 15-20 mins before) - 12:30
  • Location: Westerdok 3181013 BH Amsterdam.

  • 2.5 hrs: Workshop Create: ceramics pottery

Our second gathering will be focused on using our hands to create. There are many studies showing how working with your hands provides a hand-mind feedback loop. When your hands get activated by physical touch, endorphins and serotonin are released in your brain, and levels of cortisol decrease. As we work with our hands, we provide activities to stimulate the brain by increasing pleasure and decreasing stress.

In these 2.5 hours, Lau will guide us using mindful techniques to help us learn smoothly in a safe environment where there is no judgement- solely fun, respect and learning. Snacks, drinks, and good vibes will be provided.

  • 15 min: Time to grab a snack, surprises by lululemon and further connect before heading out.
