Join Us This May 1stThis May 1st on Beltane we welcome the public to join us for a wonderful ceremony in Gloucester.
Beltane is a Pagan holiday, and one of the eight Sabbats. It falls about halfway between the spring equinox (Ostara) and the coming summer solstice, Litha. The holiday celebrates spring at its peak, and the coming summer. The Celts named the first day of May 'Beltane', which is one of four fire festivals throughout the year along with Imbolc, Lammas, and Samhain.
We will meet at the visitors center at Stage Fort Park at 7:30pm. Please bring a long tapper candle with you as this is a fire ceremony. We will provide a cup to stop the candle from blowing out. Once lit we will walk the path 2 by 2 down to half moon beach. Once there we will perform a fire chant and welcome on the spring. At the end of the ceremony each person will give an offering to the ocean in the form of sand as it returns your desires back to the sea, this will be placed inside a floral wreath that will them be placed in the ocean.
If it is raining the ceremony will be the next day at the same time.
