About this Event
Behind the Scenes at the Old Market (member only)
What do indoor polo games, a bacon smokery and the hit show STOMP all have in common? It is of course, The Old Market in Hove. A building full of history, the arts, and where we’re taking Chamber members for our next Behind the Scenes on Wednesday 26 June.
During its 200-year history The Old Market has had many uses. Originally (you guessed it) a market, built in the 1820s as part of the Brunswick Town development, since then it’s been stables, a riding school, a wood store and smokery, later becoming a studio, performance space and theatre.
In more recent years, since 2011 it’s been an independent hub for the arts, hosting over 200 events and 55,000 people every year across their multi-format space - supporting the best emerging talent and nurturing their growth, to help the arts thrive in our city for years to come.
So, join us for a Behind the Scenes at The Old Market in Hove, as Executive Director Jenny Roberts shows us round for an insight into spaces that only artists usually see! We’ll also have a stop for refreshments in their beautiful community garden so you can soak up the atmosphere of this interesting and historic space.
