About the Speaker - Amanda Callaway, MBA
With a lifelong desire to make a difference and serve others, Amanda Callaway has dedicated her career to public health. For the past 25 years, she has been an integral part of Harris Health—formerly known as the Harris County Hospital District—where she currently serves as Vice President of Mission Advancement.
Amanda has a strong track record of leading complex, high-impact initiatives that reach across all corners of the organization. In 2012, she spearheaded Harris Health’s transformational rebrand from a system once perceived as outdated and bureaucratic to one recognized as a trusted, high-quality healthcare provider—ranking in the top 75th percentile in patient satisfaction.
In early 2023, Amanda led a bold and multifaceted brand awareness campaign that resulted in the successful passage of Harris Health’s first-ever bond measure. The $2.5 billion bond received overwhelming community support with a 73% approval rate. The campaign’s success was driven by a strategic blend of marketing, communications, public engagement, grassroots outreach—and navigating the political landscape. Today, Amanda continues to build on that momentum, applying lessons learned to elevate the organization’s image and prepare for future public funding efforts.
Amanda holds a degree in psychology from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio and an MBA from Texas Woman’s University in the Texas Medical Center. A proud native Houstonian, she’s inspired by the city’s energy and diversity—though she dreams of one day settling somewhere with mountains, four seasons, and a little more breathing room.
