About this Event
Welcome to Beginning Watercolor!
Come join us at the Cincinnati Art Club for a fun and creative workshop where you'll learn the basics of watercolor painting. Whether you're a beginner or just looking to brush up on your skills, this event is perfect for all levels. Our talented instructor, Kay Worz, is a former president of the Cincinnati Art Club. She will guide you through various techniques and help you create your own masterpiece to take home. Don't miss out on this opportunity to unleash your inner artist and explore the world of watercolors!
Beginning Watercolor is a comprehensive approach to understanding and experiencing the beauty of watercolor painting. You will learn about composition, values, color mixing and several techniques. Kay will give you plenty of 'tips' to help you create a painting you will love. Supplies will be provided- paints, brushes and paper. Subject matter will be provided, but you may feel free to bring a photo of something you'd like to paint. Class is 2.5 hours long. Take the 'fear' out of trying a new medium!
All classes are on the 2nd Wednesday of each month beginning in February. You can register for one, two or all three class sessions in the Beginning Watercolor Series. There is a discount for members of the Club and a $15.00 discount for members and non-members, if you sign up for the entire Beginning Watercolor series! Each class costs $65.00 for members and $75.00 for nonmembers...or for the series, $180.00 for members or $210.00 for nonmembers.
This first class on February 12 will introduce handling water and applying color. Learning how to control paint and water. We will take the 'fear' out of watercolor!
The second class, on March 12, will explore color. Mixing the basics. Explanation of warm and cool colors and use of the color wheel. Guidance will be provided on how to use values and contrasts in color.
The third class, on April 9, will work with masking fluids. Reserve the white of the paper and control the backgrounds. Learn the detail to finish the painting. Always a successful technique!
