Discover the art of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese form of functional embroidery, through a guided workshop which includes a take home kit
About this Event

Discover the art of Sashiko!

Sashiko is a traditional Japanese form of functional embroidery worked in running stitch on indigo-dyed fabric. Rooted in geometric precision, its patternsĀ are built on a grid system where stitch length, spacing, and angle create interlocking motifs like hemp leaves, ocean waves, and tortoiseshell.

In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn to transfer and follow a grid pattern and the unique stitching method of Sashiko. Slow down and stitch something beautiful!

No prior stitching experience required.

$50 per person + All materials provided + take home kit including special needle, thimble thread and your project to continue working.

Best for ages 16 and upĀ / Spaces limited

CLUSTER Museum exists outside of the status quo, curating transformative contemporary art experiences that embody rigor, curiosity and risk-taking. As an artist-led organization, we support the community through our work, providing urgent and essential opportunities for connection and critical dialogue.
