About this Event
The Free Black Women's Library is excited to celebrate the release Before It’s Gone: Archive to Survive a new art book and community story collection project created by art parrtners known as Brooklyn Hi-Art! Machine.
Gathered over two years and created to preserve and share the history of our longtime community in Crown Heights Brooklyn, Archive to Survive documents experiences of longtime community members.
BHAM hopes to preserve our history as told through our stories before it (and we) are erased and forgotten like so many other communities wiped out by gentrification and the racial and economic discrimination it creates.
Archive to survive is a book containing stories, photographs and artworks which stand as communal testimony of the lives lived on our block.
