Beer & Science: Guided Tasting (Beer Not Included)

This week, we’re diving into the BJCP scoresheet, the standard judges use to evaluate beer across aroma, appearance, flavor, mouthfeel, and overall impression. Understanding how beers are scored helps sharpen your palate, gives context to different styles, and explains why certain beers stand out in competition. Whether you’re a homebrewer or just beer-curious, learning the rules behind scoring makes every pint more intentional and a lot more interesting.

Grab a flight of beer, and we'll walk you through the techniques of brewing each one and taste what makes them unique. We'll have a loose format, which will allow for plenty of audience participation and questions. After that, we'll conclude with a tour of the brewery so you can see firsthand the equipment that is used for brewing.

Note: It's free to register, but to participate in the tasting, you will have to purchase a flight of beer for $20 once you arrive. This event is open to those 21 years old or older. You may be asked to provide a valid government-issued ID.
