One day course exploring climate adaptation, climate risk, and opportunities to build resilience and a fairer, flourishing future.
About this Event

Becoming Climate Resilient training is a one-day course exploring climate adaptation, climate risk, and opportunities to build resilience and a fairer, flourishing future. The training is delivered by sustainability charity, Verture and endorsed by the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute.

As climate change brings about more frequent and severe disruption across the systems we all rely upon, building resilience is an increasingly urgent priority for businesses, government and communities. Yet, adapting to climate change remains a new challenge for many.

Becoming climate resilient provides opportunities not only for responding to climate risks, but also to generate a range of positive benefits for people and nature, now and for the years ahead.

What you will learn

Learning outcomes:

  • Explore climate trends and projections for Scotland and identify climate risks
  • Understand responses to climate change, and what is meant by adaptation and resilience
  • Identify opportunities for co-benefits of climate adaptation
  • Create an action plan for implementing adaptation actions and identify the tools and resources you need to support your adaptation journey

How will the course be run?

This one day course will be delivered in-person at the Edinburgh Climate Change Institute and will consist of presentations, interactive workshops, and group discussion. This format will allow you to engage with other participants, and opportunities to apply learning to your organisation’s context. You will be sent a confirmation and joining information one week prior to the training date.

Who is this suitable for?

This course is designed for anyone wishing to learning more about how to ensure our people, places and organisations can respond to our changing climate. Training is aimed at those with some understanding of climate change, however no specific knowledge of climate resilience and adaptation is required. Please note that the content of this course is most relevant to a Scottish context, however participants based outside of Scotland are welcome to participate.
