Experience the enchanting allure of a full moon swim at Shaftesbury Lido, Dorset's only lido. Nestled in the heart of Shaftesbury, this cherished council-run facility offers a unique setting for an invigorating swim under the moonlit sky. Each full moon carries its own story and energy, and our swims are designed to align with these themes, offering you the perfect opportunity for connection, reflection, and renewal.
November's full moon is the Beaver Moon. According to some sources, the full moon for November is named after beavers because, they become particularly active in building their winter dams in preparation for the cold season. The beaver is mainly nocturnal, so they work under the light of the full moon.
It is also known as the “Mourning Moon”. According to pagan traditions it is a time to reflect and let go of past troubles or grief, and look forward to a new season and soon, a new year.
