Join BEAToronto in touring King West restaurant SARA with Spanish architect Arancha González Bernardo, co-founder of Toronto-based Odami!
About this Event

Join BEAToronto and the TSA to tour King West restaurant SARA, praised by the Michelin guide for “its cool, almost monastic modernity” and for its design as “a place to keep the outside world at bay.” Then join the designer for bites, or for a full family-style chef’s tasting menu dinner.

Your guide is Spanish architect Arancha González Bernardo, co-founder of Toronto-based Odami, who converted the 1900s Victorian townhouse into SARA, a process she says involved “striking the right balance between preserving the building’s domestic character, and maximizing its potential as a restaurant.”

Date: Monday, January 19, 2026

Location: SARA Restaurant | 98 Portland Street, Toronto, ON, Canada

  • Happy hour tour (including small bites following the tour): 5-6 pm, $25
  • Tour + seated chef’s tasting menu dinner: 6:30-9 pm, $100

Ticket prices include food, tax and gratuity; drinks not included in either option.

About Arancha González Bernardo and Odami:

Arancha González Bernardo is a Spanish architect and co-founder of Odami, an architectural and design firm based out of Toronto, Canada.

Founded in 2017, the studio focuses on residential and commercial projects, supplemented with material experimentation and furniture and object design. Odami's work has been published internationally, including Dezeen, Leibal, Thisispaper, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest, and several others.

Born and raised in Asturias, Spain, Arancha grew up playing and helping out in her family’s busy fabric and clothing shops. She carried forward a strong relationship with composition and materials as well as a creative pragmatism in designing spaces that are jointly functional, welcoming, and resonant.

Arancha studied architecture at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura in La Coruña, and has worked with award-winning design firms in Spain, Austria, Montréal, and Toronto, collaborating on projects across Europe and North America. In addition to leading Odami, she also teaches at the Toronto Metropolitan University School of Interior Design.
