Beating the Odds Teen Summit 2026

Get ready for an unforgettable in-person experience where teens come together to inspire, learn, and connect. Dive into powerful workshops, meet amazing peers, and hear from speakers who’ve truly beaten the odds. It’s your chance to spark new ideas, build confidence, and have a blast!

This event is an extension of Community for New Directions' Barbershop Talk and Salon Chronicles, created to empower and uplift youth through real conversations and real-life experiences.

On Wednesday, April 8, 2026, youth will come together with six dynamic speakers who will share how they overcame life experiences that could have stopped them from being resilient and beating the odds. These speakers will engage youth in honest, impactful discussions about perseverance, decision-making, purpose, and growth.

The event will include interactive breakout sessions, allowing youth to ask questions, engage in deeper conversation, and receive encouragement in a safe and supportive environment.

All students—whether they are on spring break or not—will receive a Certificate of Participation recognizing six (6) community service hours, which can be submitted to their school.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided, and the day will conclude with a Youth vs. Adults basketball game, creating a fun and memorable ending to a powerful day of learning and connection.
