About this Event
Cwm Llwch Circular (Taking In The Tommy Jones Obelisk & Llyn Cwm Llwch).
After a couple of longer treks, we revert back to a modest 7.6km hike for May.
A steady climb up the valley to Llyn Cwm Llwch - The legend of The Old Woman of Llyn Cwm Llwch - The old woman of the lake was said to prey upon those who were weak-minded, or who had a trusting nature and were easily led such as children. The legend tells that she used music to gain the attention of her victims and to lure them into the water where they were drowned.
There is the option of a quick dip... but considering the legend, I'll be taking a swerve.
Weather permitting; we will have a bite to eat at the lake before climbing up onto the ridge (15 minute climb that will get your heart pumping).
At the top we will pass the Tommy Jones obelisk. A tragic tale most of you will be familiar with.... before heading back to the cars (and onto the pub).
The route is a mixture of well kept paths, a Roman Road, loose stone and steep grass banks. With potential for "slips, trips and falls", we strongly recommend suitable outdoor clothing / footwear.
If you have an interest in networking and enjoy the outdoors.... what a walk this is. The views are absolutely spectacular!
This is an informal gathering of like minded people with a focus on "all things business". As we chat, we will have the chance to take in some of the best views in Wales (and take lots of photos). Individuals are responsible for their own fitness assessment. It's not a race, but attendees will require the ability to walk varying terrain (with climbs) for several hours.
