Training sessions developing bike skills.
About this Event

Who? Open to young riders aged 5-16 who have developed some skills.

What? Training sessions developing bike skills and fitness.

When? Wednesdays from 4 February until 4 March (excluding half-term)16:30-17:30 (less confident/younger riders) and 17:30-18:30 (more confident/older riders). Further dates TBA. Please arrive in good time if you are borrowing a bike.

Where? Ackers Adventure, Golden Hillock Road, Small Heath, Birmingham, B11 2PY. If you are borrowing a bike, head for 'Ackers Base Camp'.

Why? Develop skills, fitness and tactics – and have fun doing so.

What equipment do I need? A working bike; helmet; gloves; clothing that can keep you warm enough – but not so you get too hot putting an effort in; layers are good. See Bike, Helmet and Clothing Checklist (PDF). Please make sure the bike has lights, and the rider is wearing something bright!

What if I haven’t got a bike like that? Let us know by selecting the 'borrow-a-bike' option and we can sort it out. We aim to have bikes available for the sessions but do check first.

Does a parent or caregiver have to be on site during the session? Yes.

What if we have very young children? The hall at Ackers Base Camp is available as an indoor space, most weeks the Ski Centre reception area will also be open.

Safeguarding: The club's welfare officer is Kate Dighton, who can be contacted at [email protected].

How much? The sessions are free of charge for members. Junior club membership is £5. Non-members are welcome at £2 per session.

Do I have to fill anything in? Please complete a consent form (DOCX) for all riders and email to [email protected] in advance. For the young riders, a parent/carer must be present.

How can I find out more? See http://beaconrcc.org.uk/academy/, https://www.facebook.com/BeaconCyclingAcademy or e-mail [email protected].
