About this Event
The tween years bring plenty of physical and emotional changes, and can feel surprisingly intense. This “in-between” stage is a key period in a child’s development, and yet, while there are plenty of groups for pregnant women, new parents, breastfeeding mums, and parents of toddlers or teenagers, parents of children aged 8 to 12 are often left to their own devices.
This is why I created Be Tween Voices. As a tween parent myself, with a background in coaching and group facilitation, I want to offer a space where parents of 8 to 12-year-olds can come together to share their experiences about the realities of parenting tweens.
This is a space free of judgement, where we come together for an hour to pause, share stories, listen, and be heard (something many of us rarely experience in our busy everyday lives). What is shared stays within the group.
Sessions are different each week. We explore themes relevant to the tween years by sharing stories in pairs or in the group, sometimes using simple tools such as prompts, cards, or journalling. There is no advice-giving, no trying to fix each other. We are all imperfect parents, and that’s okay in this space.
Here are some of the themes we will touch upon:
Anger, Boundaries, Confidence, Emotional regulation, Identity (you are not ONLY a parent), Mental load, Parent/Child communication, Parental peer pressure, Puberty, Rupture & Repair, Screen addiction, Self-Care, Taboos, Values.
Each session lasts 1 hour, with the option to have a coffee afterwards in a nearby café to continue the conversation!
You are welcome to come and see if this space feels right for you, with no obligation beyond the session itself.
What to expect

- We will be sitting in circle, but this is not a spiritual space
- Sharing in pairs and/or as a group - you will listen and be heard
- Different prompts, exercises and topics each week
What this is not
