About this Event
This 4-day House DJ Skillcation teaches you how to mix from scratch – from controller and CDJ setup to crowd management, branding, and getting booked.
Munich is one of Germany's most vibrant club cities – with a scene ranging from intimate bars to well-known clubs, offering room for genuine musical diversity. Guided by B-ZEY, an experienced DJ and key figure in Munich's house music scene, you'll learn to read tracks, feel transitions, and build a set that truly moves a dance floor. The focus is on the interplay between technical skill, musical intuition, and the energy between DJ and crowd.

Introduction & Expectations
Info: The first morning is about getting to know each other. You meet B-ZEY and the other participants, and we talk openly about what everyone hopes to get from this Skillcation. What kind of DJ do you want to become – and what is your sound?
🕑: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Basics & Setup
Info: Before you mix your first track, you get to know the tools. Together we go through how a controller is built, what role the monitor and headphones play – and then dive into the basics of mixing: cue points, BPM matching, and key mixing.
🕑: 11:00 AM - 01:00 PM
Practical Mixing
Info: Now what you've learned gets tested directly at the controller. Everyone mixes a track – and together a back-to-back runs through the whole group. The goal: feeling what it means to create an atmosphere together.
🕑: 01:00 PM - 02:00 PM
Preparing Playlists
Info: A great gig starts long before the evening itself. We show you how to use Rekordbox – creating playlists, buying tracks, sorting, analysing, and exporting to your USB stick – so that on the night of your performance you're prepared and focused.
🕑: 06:00 PM - 09:00 PM
DJ Network Get-Together
Info: We close the first day with a real highlight: the networking event 'The Table' – organised by B-ZEY's collective. A relaxed evening among like-minded people and the perfect introduction to Munich's house scene.

Further Mixing Techniques
Info: Day two picks up where day one left off – and goes deeper. You discover key mixing, loops, effects, and filters, and understand at which moments these tools truly shape a set. And when it's better to leave them out.
🕑: 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
Practical Mixing with Your Songs
Info: Today you bring your own tracks. Everyone prepares a short set and plays it in front of the group – with the new techniques, under real pressure, with direct feedback. Afterwards the back-to-back runs through all participants.
🕑: 12:00 PM - 02:00 PM
How to Catch the Crowd
Info: Mixing is one half – the audience is the other. We look at how a set should be built dramatically, how effects and filters create tension, how body language and eye contact influence the energy on the dance floor, and why the right track selection makes all the difference

Working with CDJs and Practical Mixing
Info: Day 3 means a new level. We move from the controller to CDJs – the setup that professional DJs play on in clubs worldwide. Fewer assistance features, more feel for the sound. All the techniques you've learned come together here: mixing, crowd-reading, and maintaining the connection to the dance floor.
🕑: 12:00 PM - 01:30 PM
How to Get Booked – Marketing is the Key
Info: The technique is there – now it's about getting it on stage. We talk about networks, personal branding, and using social media strategically. Together we develop a vision board: what do you want to achieve? What is your sound? Where do you want to play? And what are bookers really looking for?
🕑: 01:30 PM - 02:00 PM
Building the Setup
Info: You arrive at the gig – and suddenly you have to set up the equipment yourself. We go through which cables you need and how to correctly connect the controller, speakers, and mixer. A small preparation with a big impact.
🕑: 06:00 PM - 09:00 PM
Experiencing and Analysing Other DJs Live
Info: After three days of theory and practice, we watch how the professionals do it. We go to a party together and analyse live: how does the DJ build their set? Which techniques do they use, which do they leave out? What takes the crowd with them? You'll experience club nights with different eyes from now on.

Wrap-Up & Reflection
Info: The final morning is for reflection. We compare what everyone set out to achieve at the start – and what they're actually taking away. We also talk together about the night before: what did the DJ do that impressed us, and what do we take into our own practice?
🕑: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Expert Session
Info: Learn from and with other DJs.
🕑: 12:00 PM - 02:00 PM
Recording Your Set
Info: The crowning finale of this Skillcation: everyone records their own set – with the tracks that best capture their sound, and the story they want to tell. A recording you take home that shows how far you've come in four days.
