BBQ PULLED….HAM?!?! We’ve sent the Sloppy Gino Thursday Special into the recipe vault for the year (yes, we stole the idea of a vault from Disney, sue us). We’ve replaced it with something new and very different.
When it comes to Central New York in spring/summer – we’re BBQ loving people – but everyone in town is selling a pulled pork sandwich, so we took some inspiration from the deep south and decided to try ham.
We’ve been sampling the recipe over the past week with guests and the result has been overwhelming positive.
We take bone-in ham, smother it with whole grain mustard, pack on the seasonings and slow roast it in a small reserve of root beer for 5 hours.
After 5 hours, the ham bone practically jumps out of the meat, then we get to work on shredding that bad boy. We take the cured jewels of meat and pour in our store made barbecue sauce. Lastly, we top it with pickles.
Salty ham, sweet barbecue sauce, tangy pickle, and a hint of crunch – it’s a flavor combo you’re not quite ready for!
📸Credit: The ham above is piled on a toasted onion roll and served with a side of fries - all for just $9.50.
