Basic Guiding Skills
This one-off, one-day Basic Guiding skills course will enable you to learn the following outcomes.
Learning outcomes
◗ Discuss how to improve accessibility
◗ Simulation exercises
◗ Learn how to safely guide a visually impaired person
◗ Learn good practice techniques
◗ Learn the aids/equipment available for independent travel.

FREE training courses for Personal Assistants, Communication Support workers and Care workers working for Deaf or Deafblind Direct Payment / Self funded employers and users.
The workshops will provide an overview on what is involved when communicating and supporting deaf & deafblind people to assist them in meeting their social care needs.
The courses are for:
◗ Personal Assistants (PAs) employed by individual employers e.g. Direct Payment employers or self-funded employers.
◗ PAs, Communication Support Workers, and Care workers who are paid privately by Deaf/Disabled people or who are Direct Payment or Personal Budget users.
*Please note that due to the nature of our funding, these workshops are not available to those employed by local authorities or to Personal Health budget users.
Direct Payment employers will be able to claim reasonable work and travelling expenses for their Personal Assistant(s) to attend one or more of the following workshops to help them develop their skills & knowledge. For more information, please email: [email protected]
