Not been before and no idea what we're on about? More info below:
This event is for poets of any level, including people who simply enjoy reading and listening to poetry. We want to show how poetry is for everyone.
PPS is a safe space to share work and get feedback.
Event timings:
7pm - Arrival
7.15pm - Poetry Karaoke
8pm - Break
8.15pm - Open mic with written feedback for you to take away
9pm - Finish
Detailed Breakdown of Event:
The first half of the night will be an opportunity to read poems other than your own that you have enjoyed and would like to share (2 minutes or so in length please).
If you are writing your own stuff but aren't confident sharing it yet, reading someone else's work might be an opportunity to practice the process of getting up and reading aloud to a small audience.
Or you might just enjoy the opportunity to read wonderful poetry that isn't yours out loud to an audience - we do!
After a break, we have an open mic with a difference – feedback.
There’ll be a limited number of slots for people to read one poem (2 minutes or so please) and for the audience to give constructive feedback on their writing and performance. The feedback will be written down by audience members in response to set questions, gathered up by the hosts and distributed to poets at the end of the night. If you prefer verbal feedback that is fine 🙂
Don't forget to sign up to read, spaces are limited and fill up quickly!
If you want to read in the first part of the night or would like a slot on the feedback open mic (or both) please let us know via direct message or comment on the event wall.
Slots will be booked on a first-come-first-served basis and we'll save one slot for each section for a name to be pulled out of a hat on the night.
The audience is very important to this event, so please come
and support, even if you aren’t reading.
