About this Event
Baqir Abbas from Lahore, Pakistan is a true enigma. His ability to crossover into any musical genre with his bansuri (bamboo flute) in hand and ignite peoples souls, is second to none. From hindustani classical, to the middle east, far east and Jazz! He's been welcomed to the mecca of Jazz, the Lincoln Centre in New York on multiple occasions.
Over the course of his 40 year career, he's been blessed to have played with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Madame Noor Jehan, Ustad Mehdi Hassan Saab, Ustad Fateh Ali Khan Saab and so many of the great legends that have emerged from the Sub Continent.
Following an amazing impromptu evening in October where Baqir delivered a range of iconic qawwali's in a purely instrumental form, due to popular demand he will be back. This time we will continue the exploration of Qawwali, as well as other Sufi based music/poetry from the Sub contininent.
Doors open at 7pm and the performance will start at 7.30pm. Seating in unreserved though there is NO BAD SEAT at Chelsea Theatre.
There will be an interval and following the second set, we aim to finish by 10.15.
