Hi,it’s me again (Gabi) your local independent musician, back to ask for your undivided attention before I disappear into summer and that version of myself who just plays guitar for my little friends and forgets emails exist.
I’m playing one last show.
And yes, I’m making it a blender.
I could have done something simple.
I present to you the impossible task of two drum kits on stage at Quai des Brumes.
A vibraphone that has to go up and down a flight of stairs.
Too many incredible musicians in one room, which somehow turns into even more emails, more logistics, more reasons to question my life choices.
Incredible. I want to do it again and you are cordially invited.
This one brings together the wildly beautiful work of Salomé Perli with the first half of my new project, Oracle. We both spent time working on this material at the Centre Expérimental de Musique de Chicoutimi (the strange, perfect little world where you rehearse all day, make music, and somehow there’s free printing and someone else does social media for you).
The idea is still the same:
We take the beginnings and endings of our songs
and stitch them together into one continuous set.
No real starts. No real endings.
Just transitions, collisions, and a lot of listening.
We’ll be leaning hard on improvisation.
And yes, I’m recording it straight to cassette.
It’s a one-hour set.
Afterwards, we can stand around on Saint-Denis and talk about music, life, work, and the general absurdity of trying to do this seriously.
Anyway that’s the plan.
If it sounds like your kind of chaos, I’d love for you to come.
