About this Event
Mini Pulse – An Evening of New Choreography
Following the success of Ballet Black: PULSE last year, we are delighted to present Mini Pulse on Wednesday 24 June.
New choreography is the pulse of Ballet Black. As we have grown over the past 25 years, performing on bigger stages and at more high-profile events, finding opportunities for artists who are new to choreography has become increasingly challenging. Emerging dance-makers need space to experiment and sometimes fail without the pressures of dance critics and box office expectations stifling the creative process.
Last year, in collaboration with The Coronet Theatre in Notting Hill, we staged our first choreographic platform, allowing two Company dancers, Isabela Coracy and Helga Paris-Morales, to use the resources of Ballet Black (our incredible dancers, studio and staff ) to create their own ballets. These original works were performed at The Coronet in front of supportive audiences, with no dance critics allowed! The project was a great success and gave these developing choreographers valuable insight into creating and staging new ballet works.
This year, our schedule is packed with our 25th Anniversary Tour, but to keep the momentum of Pulse going, we are hosting an intimate Mini Pulse at our Hammersmith studio. Four dancers are taking part: Isabela and Helga return with brand-new pieces and are joined by Junior Artists Love Kotiya and Bhungane Mehlomakulu, who will each present exciting new work of their own.
This is a rare opportunity to be among the first to see these short new works in an informal studio setting, gain insight into the creative process, and meet the choreographers behind the pieces. We'll also be serving a complimentary glass of wine.
Tickets are strictly limited to just 20 seats, so book early to avoid disappointment.
