There'll be several different shades of folky phantasmagoria on display at Arcanoa, as two marvellous touring acts are joined by Berlin's very own Bodhrán Slippy. The last act will be followed by the venue's regular Middle Ages music session.Ben "Baby" Copperhead is a New York City-based composer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist whose compositions, performances, and arrangements offer a unique, contemporary vision informed by an unlikely range of influences, traditions, and collaborations. Copperhead expresses his folk roots through his “otherworldly” banjo style and ethos of political protest. The influence of free jazz and figures like Coltrane, Coleman, and Monk can be heard in his contrapuntal improvisational excursions and alternate tunings. Polyphonies inspired by European classical and North African Berber artists inform his modal and tonal explorations, while the use of samplers, processed drum machines, tape loops, and handmade electronic instruments were inspired in part by the experimentalism of Musique Concrète.

Mike & Solveig's music can be characterised as experimental folk, and draws from a wide range of styles including psychedelia, country, folk, blues and minimalism. Solveig Askvik sings and plays violin and glockenspiel, and Mike Hastings sings and plays acoustic guitar, banjo and strumstick.
They play original songs and instrumentals reminiscent of Incredible String Band, Syd Barrett, Daevid Allen, Penguin Cafe Orchestra, Kevin Ayers, Moondog, Dr Strangely Strange and Ivor Cutler.
Mike is a member of Glasgow psych rock band Helicon, and for 10 years he was the guitarist for Trembling Bells. He also plays in the band of Mike Heron (Incredible String Band). Throughout his musical career, Mike has played with many other well known musicians including Scott Fagan, Will Oldham (Bonnie Prince Billy), Nick Garrie, Ed Askew and Peter Daltrey from Kaleidoscope (UK).
Solveig was previously also part of The Mike Heron band but left when she moved back to Bergen in Norway. In her hometown, she is involved with several local bands and travels to Glasgow as often as she can to create music with her fellow musicians there.

Bodhrán Slippy are an Irish/Scottish duo based in Berlin. Both of its members have a wide range of experience in the music scenes of Berlin and beyond, between them having played styles including pirate speedfolk, hillbilly punk and Celtic trad. Their duo was formed in 2020 and plays an atmospheric mix of their own compositions and traditional pieces, driven by Samhuinn's full-on bodhrán drum attack and Sorcha's violin virtuosity. Their song lyrics range from the politically charged to the light-hearted to the absurd and their sets are always engaging and full of energy.
