We invite you to the opening event of UA Days in Luxembourg 2026 — an avant-premiere screening of a documentary accompanied by an exhibition of artworks created under the conditions of war.Underground Garden is a documentary directed by Yulian Ulybin, dedicated to Aza Nizi Maza, an art studio founded in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
The film follows children who continue to draw, imagine, and create while living under constant shelling. It brings the audience closer to their daily reality — where artistic practice does not stop, but adapts and continues within the conditions of war.
Aza Nizi Maza brings together children and teenagers working collectively on large-scale projects. In 2022, during intense attacks on Kharkiv, part of their work was created in the metro, where families were sheltering. These works reflect a process of creating in real time, under pressure.
The documentary also follows the group as they prepare for their first international exhibition, moving between Kharkiv, Prague, and Berlin, raising questions of home, belonging, and continuity.
Alongside the screening, an outdoor exhibition of works by the young artists of Aza Nizi Maza will be on view near the Czech Embassy from 23 May to 23 July. Created in real conditions of war, these works make visible a broader reality: this war is directed not only against territory and lives, but against culture itself.
The evening includes a short opening and a live online connection with the children in Kharkiv.
