About this Event
Johanna is a fungi obsessed gardener and forager. Her work is rooted in seasonal cycles and connection to place. She runs urban foraging walks and participatory-art workshops in and around Edinburgh.
Join Johanna for a foraging and nature journaling workshop at the Hermitage. During this workshop you'll learn basic plant and fungi identification- we’ll be foraging some seasonal plants and mushrooms to then collectively identify. After a small break, we’ll go over some simple drawing techniques and start to explore them more closely. You'll get to sketch in your own time and will be able to ask any questions.
Please bring a sketchbook!
Other materials such as pencils, charcoal and erasers will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if there’s anything you’d particularly like to use.
We’ll be walking through paved areas, and the guided parts of the walk will be wheelchair & buggy accessible. After a gentle stroll through the woodland, we'll settle at Hermitage House for a facilitated drawing workshop. The path we'll take is mostly even and without any steep inclines. It could be muddy or rainy so do dress appropriately.
