About this Event
Avian Relationships Walk & Talk
with Lauren Lampley
ON-SITE | Saturday, February 15 | 10 am - 12 pm
Blue Ridge Naturalist- Elective Credit
Are all birds monogamous like Swans? How do other species of birds form their breeding pairs and court their partner? During this program we will look at some interesting examples of different species’ courtship rituals and compare them to other groups of animals and humans. There will be a presentation inside for the first half of the class then we will go outside to see if we can find some real-life examples of courtship in our local birds at the NC Arboretum.
This class takes place both indoors and outdoors. Please come prepared to walk on gentle, yet uneven terrain, and dress appropriately for the weather.
Lauren Lampley began her career at Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation as a Park Naturalist which solidified Lauren’s interests in ecology and a passion for teaching others. She has led walks and hikes in a variety of subjects from Geology to Birding and especially likes to learn and teach about our local ecology. She currently works at the NC Arboretum in the Adult Education Department and manages the Blue Ridge Naturalist Certificate of Merit.
