The Monastery Manchester in association with Red Balloon Music presents… our very first Autumn Music Festival!Join us for an afternoon of beautiful acoustic music from some amazing musical acts in the stunning surroundings of The Great Nave.
Doors open at 12.30pm, and music will run from 1.00pm until 4.30pm
Tickets are £15 each – with all proceeds going towards The Monastery Charity Restoration Fund.
HEADLINE ACT: Katie Nicholas
Katie Nicholas is an award-winning singer-songwriter from Liverpool.
She is a distinctive folk artist, skilful guitarist and fearless in bending any genre to suit her message.
With poetic lyricism and carefully crafted guitar arrangements accompanied by strings and keys, her sound is reminiscent of obscure but timeless artists including Norah Jones, Katie Melua, Eva Cassidy and Joni Mitchell.
Already established on the UK Americana circuit whilst living in London, Katie was quickly discovered and showcased by Whispering Bob Harris on his Under the Apple Tree event in Nashville.
She has recorded music at Abbey Road Studio London, Blackbird Nashville, and has accumulated over 50 BBC regional broadcasts including The Travelling Folk Show on BBC Radio Scotland.

Solis
Solis is an Irish songstress based in Manchester who is captivating audiences with her alluring, harmony-soaked melodies.
Influenced by the poetry of Kate Bush and the troubled-balladry of Jeff Buckley from a very young age, Solis has placed her original touch on folk / pop music.
Comparisons have also been made with Cate Le Bon and Björk, and Laura Marling’s softly-sung prowess remain very much in the head-rushing blend of audible influences.
Solis has unleashed her powers in front of festival crowds, including those of Kendal Calling, Liverpool’s Sound City and Dot to Dot as well as supporting artists including Blossoms, Abbie Ozard, Francis Lung and Liz Lawrence.
Solis’ ethereal vocals carry a profound, elegant charm and her music is sure to raise the hairs on the back of your neck.
The Dove & the Dragon
Kitty Davies performs under her alias, The Dove and The Dragon with English Folk-infused Americana.
This brings together two worlds under one name: light and dark, vulnerability and power, the magical and the mundane; creating a unique sound carried forward by skilfully crafted songs that are as timeless as they are new.
Reminiscent of artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez and inspired by some of the greats of American songwriting such as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Dave Van Ronk.
The Dove & The Dragon writes and performs music with songs that are delicately fragile yet razor sharp, evocative and achingly honest.
