Join us as we gather for an Author's talk with Poet, Lakeisha Ashley (L.A) and her poetry book A Love Letter to My Grandma, a collection of contemporary and spoken word poems telling the story of generational healing. This event will include a grounding meditation, an intimate conversation between L.A and Soraya Latiff -- a liberatory wellness guide and entrepreneur, as they dive into the books themes around womanhood, ancestral connection and storytelling. The event will end with an invitiation for a community discussion and book signing.

ABOUT THE BOOK

A Love Letter to My Grandma is a collection of contemporary and spoken word poems that journey through generational healing. It is a storytelling of unraveling, of re-learning, and remembering. It explores the deep grief and joy of choosing self, of transmuting pain into growth & finding a deep love of self through the courage to speak and honor all the grandmother's whose storytelling legacy still lives through us.


ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Lakeisha Ashley("L.A") is a 200-hour certified Yoga teacher & trauma-informed facilitator. She is the self-published author of A Love Letter to My Grandma, a poet, a creative and community builder dedicated to creating spaces of healing, connection, and transformation. Through her yoga practice and poetry she is inspired to guide others in reclaiming self through movement and self-expression.

ACCESSIBILITY

Parking: Metered street parking is available (parallel parking) on Market St. Paid lots are available within a few blocks. The closest one is on 21st and Market St.

Entrance Access: Our front door is at street level and manually operated, accessible for wheelchairs and mobility aids. The rest of the block has sidewalks raised by five steps; however, the bike lane offers a step-free route down the block with minimal car traffic.

Restrooms: All-gender restrooms. Just like at home.

Communication: All staff on site speak English. There will be one Spanish speaking staff member. We welcome communication via translation apps (Google Translate is available). While we do not use ASL, we’re happy to communicate through apps or other tools that work for you.

Alcohol Policy: No alcohol will be served or permitted at this event.

Masks: Masks are encouraged and supplied.
