Join us for a special two-part program! Local author Kristene Evans will read from her early chapter book series, The Adventures of Cooper & Abe. Her books will be available for purchase and signing. Following the reading, Kristine will join the Washington Writers' Workshop to share her writing and publishing advice.Kristene Evans is a teacher, author, and proud farmer’s daughter from Washington County, Iowa. She is the creator of The Adventures of Cooper and Abe, a children’s chapter book series that follows an adventurous farm boy and his loyal Australian Shepherd as they solve mysteries on their family farm.
Growing up surrounded by fields, livestock, and family farming traditions, Kristene developed a deep appreciation for agriculture and the outdoors. Those experiences inspired her to write stories that help young readers explore farm life through adventure, curiosity, and problem-solving.
As a teacher, Kristene is passionate about helping children develop a love of reading. Her books combine engaging mysteries with real farm facts about animals, crops, conservation, and rural life. Each story encourages readers to think like detectives while learning about the world around them.
Kristene lives in Washington, Iowa with her husband and children. When she isn’t writing, she enjoys spending time outdoors, camping, and continuing to create stories that celebrate family, curiosity, and the heart of rural communities.
