About this Event
Parnassus Books is pleased to present an evening with local artist and author, Kate Lewis for a special talk and guided sketching workshop celebrating her new book, Quiet Moments: A Guided Sketchbook. Kate will share how the book came together, the inspiration behind her own sketching ritual, and how small moments of observation can spark deeper creativity and calm.

About the book:
Engage mindfully and creatively with everyday wonders with this guided sketchbook as your daily companion.
Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned artist, this is your reminder to pause and celebrate the beauty in the world around you. The prompts in this sketchbook will help you establish a regular creative ritual that uncovers the extraordinary in the everyday. From a tiny insect to a vase of flowers on your kitchen table to the lines of an urban landscape, anything can become the subject of your next drawing.
Watercolor and ink illustrations throughout offer inspiration and banish the fear of the blank page. In this interactive art journal, sketching is not just about making art but about being fully present and unlocking the transformative potential of self-expression.
FOSTER A CREATIVE HABIT: As a full-time artist and busy mother of four, Kate Lewis has established a habit of observing and sketching one simple thing every morning--a tree she passed on her walk or the cup of tea on the kitchen windowsill. With this guided sketchbook, she helps anyone adopt this habit, whether you aspire to improve your drawing skills or simply want to feel more grounded and calm.
UNCOVER JOY AND INSPIRATION EVERYWHERE: With its combination of everyday sketching and bite-sized meditative practice, this prompted journal makes it easy to find artistic inspiration and see your surroundings with new eyes.
GIFT FOR CREATIVES AND MINDFULNESS ENTHUSIASTS: This beautifully packaged sketchbook, with prompts and small illustrations throughout, makes the perfect gift for people who aspire to be more creative, more mindful, or both.
