Join us for an open bar and a conversation between Nikki May and Angela Flournoy for the launch of May’s second novel, THIS MOTHERLESS LAND.
From the acclaimed author of Wahala, THIS MOTHERLESS LAND is a decolonial retelling of Mansfield Park, exploring identity, culture, race, and love. The first 25 people will receive a Mariner tote bag and there will be open bar from 6-8pm.
May’s debut novel was published around the world in January 2022 and is being adapted into a major BBC TV drama. This Motherless Land is May’s second novel.
ANGELA FLOURNOY is the author of The Turner House, which was a finalist the National Book Award, a finalist for the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers selection, an Indie Next pick and a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Her fiction has appeared in The Paris Review, and she has written for The New York Times, The New Yorker, Los Angeles Times and elsewhere. A graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, Flournoy has taught at the University of Iowa, Princeton University and UCLA. She lives in New York. Her second novel The Wilderness is forthcoming from Mariner Books in fall 2025.
