This four-day event offers students, composers, and anyone interested in music theory an intensive exposure to four different analytical methodologies. Presumed knowledge: the ability to read music notation, and basic comprehension of chords, scales and other rudiments of music theory. Each of the following topics will be covered across three lectures:
- Denis Collins (University of Queensland): Canonic techniques across the centuries
- Nathan Lam (Eastman School of Music): Modes in 19th- and 20th-century music
- Eric Isaacson (Indiana University, Emeritus): Minimalism
- Jeremy Tatar (Carleton College): Analytical Techniques in Popular Music
