ELIOT BRONSONIndie folksinger Eliot Bronson has created his own brand of atmospheric American roots music. An internationally-renowned songwriter with a voice that swoons and sweeps, Eliot takes stock of the world around him, turning his personal experience into songs about the feelings we all share.
His most recent album, Talking To Myself, was recorded on the outskirts of Atlanta, where Eliot first built an audience as a member of folk-rock duo The Brilliant Inventions. He grew up in working-class Baltimore, within walking distance of the Pentecostal Church where his father and grandfather once preached to congregants who spoke in tongues.
Bronson took his inspiration from the records that filled his father’s collection, from folk acts like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Joni Mitchell to the trailblazing blues duo of Brownie McGhee and Sonny Terry. Inspired to make his own music, he began writing songs as a teenager.
GEORGE ECKARD & CHARLES ABSHER
George Eckard has lived in the Atlanta area for more than 50 years and has been playing various instruments for longer than that. He has played at local venues solo, with the Unusual Suspects and with the 4 Man String Band. His second recorded collection of original songs, Love the Land, was completed recently. He leads the Songwriting Lab at the Frank Hamilton School.
Charles Absher has been playing music since high school (yes, over 50 years ago). There was a 10-year period when he put down the guitar to earn a civil engineering degree, but it soon became his stress reliever as he advanced in his career. He’s played in Bluegrass, Folk/Rock and Americana bands both before and after the college degree. Now retired, he continues to compose and perform his own songs.
