THE SHOW:
ONCE UPON A MATTRESS: YOUTH EDITION
Music by Mary Rodgers
Book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller and Marshall Barer
Lyrics by Marshall Barer
Many moons ago in a far-off place, Queen Aggravain decreed no couples could marry until her son, Prince Dauntless, found a bride. Princesses came from far and wide to win the hand of the prince, but none could pass the impossible tests given to them by the Queen. That is, until the “shy” swamp princess, Winnifred the Woebegone, showed up. Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, Once Upon a Mattress is a rollicking spin on the classic tale “The Princess and the Pea” that provides side-splitting shenanigans. After all, a princess is a delicate thing.

AUDITION INFORMATION:
See “Youtheatre Auditions” for a more detailed breakdown of how auditions will run.
Auditions will consist of a monologue, song, and dance portion. You will learn the dance at auditions but should have your monologue and song learned and memorized before auditions. Monologues and songs for auditions are from the show and can be found below. Please choose only one monologue and one song from the options to perform!
There will be an optional (but encouraged!) audition workshop held at the rehearsal hall on March 7 @ 10:30 – 11:30 AM where you can learn the audition dance ahead of time and work on your song and monologue with the director. This workshop is designed to alleviate some of the stress that goes with auditioning and also to ensure that anyone who wishes will have the resources to feel prepared for their audition.
Auditions start at the posted time with everyone learning the dance together and performing it for the director. Arrive early to allow time to fill out/turn in audition forms beforehand!
