About this Event
The Atlanta (GA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated established in 1953, is one of the 299 Chapters in The Links, Incorporated. The Atlanta (GA) Chapter was the first Links Chapter established in the State of Georgia. Since its founding, the Chapter has served metropolitan Atlanta through community service projects and charitable giving.
The Atlanta (GA) Chapter’s membership of influential leaders continues to volunteer countless documented hours in service to the metropolitan Atlanta community and to the global society. The impact of this service is seen in the charitable contributions to community agencies, like the recipients of our community partners awards. These seven charitable organizations received a total of $85,000 from the Atlanta (GA) Chapter: Health, Education, Assessment and Leadership, Incorporated (HEAL); Sadie G. Mays Health and Rehabilitation Center; Moving in the Spirit; The Urban Youth Harp Ensemble; Gilgal, Incorporated; The Center Helping Obesity in Children End Successfully, Incorporated (CHOICES); and International Human Trafficking Institute. The Chapter awards scholarships to middle school, high school, and college students, and donations to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), as well as international contributions to Schools in Africa, Jamaica, and the Goat Project in Haiti.
Highlights of Atlanta Chapter Signature Programs:
The Green Screen Project (Arts Facet) Promotes and supports young filmmakers throughout the Atlanta University Center in their journey toward “The Art of Filmmaking”: The 2021 Green Screen winner was invited to enter the Bronze Lens Festival
Young Master Writers (YMWP): promotes opportunities for High School students learn to write for greater effectiveness. The Atlanta (GA) Chapter is proud to have been successful in being awarded first place at the 2022 Links National Assembly for the YMWP;
eSTEAM-Ed (Service to Youth)program has been successful in helping teachers and schools to enhance STEAM education, and experiences for students. Partnership with Crawford Long MS, APS to achieve STEAM certification 2022 .Provides scholarships for students to attend summer STEAM programs . Highlights of the program were featured at the Links National Assembly 2022
SmartMouth ((Health and Human Services Facet) Students and Parents in Metropolitan Atlanta learn the importance of dental health in supporting overall health and wellness. This is also an award-winning Program.
“Making it Count: Get Out the Vote!” (National Trends & Services Facet). This “Umbrella Program” won 2nd place at the Southern Area (2021) Conference. and was awarded honorable mention at the National Assembly this year (2022).
