A trail running camp held in a dual World Heritage area!
4 days of running amongst active and extinct volcanoes, diverse ecosystems and some spectacular landscapes.
The afternoons will be spent learning about the intrinsic connection between athletes and the environment and equipping yourself with the knowledge and tools to undertake kaitiakitanga (environmental stewardship) and climate action.
Check-in is at 12 PM, Friday 29 March, Saturday and Sunday are full days, and Monday morning’s short sessions are followed by check-out at 10 AM.
The itinerary includes 4 runs, a yoga/mobility session, 3 workshops, a marae visit and team dinners.
As this is our pilot running & kaitiakitanga camp, we are purposely keeping it small. Attendance cost covers immediate expenses only. We have a vision of what this camp should be, and our first attendees will help shape it.
We have booked a house that sleeps up to 8 people. Accommodation costs will be between $165 and $241 per person depending on the number of attendees. If we have more than 8 attendees, we will explore other options to accommodate everyone - there is no limit.
Meals are the responsibility of each participant but we will charge an additional $20 per person to have general snacks available in the house.
The deposit paid is to confirm your attendance. This goes toward your accommodation cost and is 100% refundable up to 7 days prior.
The runs are not a smash-fest. The longest runs will be approximately 4 hours and if required we will split the group into 2 depending on distance/difficulty/ability.
We have several run routes at the ready varying in distance and difficulty, but the actual tracks run will be determined at the camp based on weather and attendees. Walkers will be accommodated.
This camp is also couples/family-friendly, so we will provide some activity options for your accompanied members to do and the camp sessions they can join in on, including meals.
Your camp director is Ben Eitelberg, an environmentalist, an accredited endurance sports coach and a plant-powered trail ultramarathon runner.
