About ASRA:
ASRA Club is a sports organisation and community space that centres Muslim women in movement, wellness, and sisterhood. Founded in 2019, We offer runs in South and East London, fortnightly walks around London, school programmes and half-term programmes in the UK. ASRA Club is also based in The Gambia where we host movement sessions, school programmes and menstrual health drives. ASRA Club's aim is to unlock the inner athlete by nurturing a safe space and creating an environment to support spiritual, physical and mental health and wellbeing. ASRA Club’s focus is on tackling the internal and external boundaries Muslim women face by acting as more than just a sports club. The forefront of our mission is ensuring that no Muslim woman has to compromise on her Iman/faith to unlock her inner athlete to its full potential.
About Home Girls:
Home Girls Unite (HGU) is a Community Interest Company (CIC) that provides a safe space for eldest daughters from immigrant homes. It is founded by eldest daughters out of frustration for the lack of support for the unique challenges we face. As eldest daughters ourselves, we understand how this position infiltrates every aspect of our lives and so we are in the best position to understand the support our users need. This is a key strength of our organisation and one we are reminded of when we receive feedback such as ‘I wish I came across HGU sooner’. Such feedback reinforces that we are improving the lives of eldest daughters.
About Forward UK:
An African women-led organisation working to end violence against women and girls. From female genital mutilation and child marriage to domestic and sexual violence, we tackle abuse and discrimination – enabling African women and girls to have the dignity, health and equality they deserve.
At FORWARD, we focus on personal stories and the bigger picture. That’s why we support affected women and girls on the ground – bringing together communities, developing skills and knowledge, and nurturing young women leaders of tomorrow. And it’s why we work strategically to challenge and support decision-makers and practitioners – conducting community research, building partnerships and creating opportunities to transform lives.
