Join us for an engaging conversation exploring how ATCO is shaping the future of infrastructure, energy, and community-building across Alberta. From innovative housing solutions like VIVA Homes to their ongoing commitment to downtown Edmonton, we’ll also touch on ATCO’s role in advancing next-generation infrastructure, including data centers and what’s ahead on their strategic horizon.

Vice President, Development, Panattoni Development Company

Mark has been part of the Panattoni team since 2019 and is located in the Edmonton office. As Vice President of Development, he leads development projects from inception to completed execution.

His work includes managing consultants and working with municipalities to acquire site plan approvals and permits, identifying tenants for projects built on speculation, and working with the brokerage community to achieve executed leases.

Mark’s previous experience includes leadership roles in the retail sector and, recently, working at the municipal level in Economic Development, which has provided him with unique insight, knowledge, and skills to successfully move projects forward.

Mike is a passionate and strategic executive in the energy industry, committed to advancing energy infrastructure to support modern life, security, and economic prosperity. As Vice President, Business Development at ATCO Energy Systems, he leads efforts to accelerate growth through new customer projects and system improvements across the natural gas and electricity sectors.

With over two decades at ATCO, Mike has held a variety of leadership and executive roles spanningnatural gas transmission and distribution, electric utility modernization, NGL midstream operations, natural gas storage, power generation, and northern energy solutions. His experience working in Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico—including two years with LUMA Energy, leading grid reconstruction efforts—has given him deep insight into evolving energy needs of customers and industry challenges.

Christie Simpson oversees the strategic direction of ATCO’s property and land investments, while driving shareholder value by leveraging the company’s diverse business lines. She recently spearheaded Viva Homes by ATCO, a new ATCO business addressing the national need for family housing, utilizing ATCO’s own modular construction capabilities. Viva Homes is a developer and builder, providing housing agencies and investors with a turnkey housing solution at a pace that cannot be matched through conventional onsite construction.

Drawing from over 20 years’ experience in real estate development and construction, Simpson brings a passion for urban planning and is enthusiastic about Viva Homes’ ability to deliver beautiful, affordable housing to markets, across Western Canada. Simpson has expertise in long-term asset planning, retail, residential, industrial and office developments, high-value private real estate transactions and green and brownfield land development.
