About Courtney MacLean:
Education:
Pacific Lutheran University
Bachelor of Fine Arts - Graphic Design and Printmaking
Drexel University
Master of Interior Architecture and Design
Courtney pays attention to the details that most people miss. She’s the person looking under tables at the bar to find out where they are from; the person who investigates art installations up-close to determine how they were made. Inspiration finds her seemingly everywhere, but then again, how could it not? She’s been everywhere. Moving around a lot throughout her life has exposed Courtney to new perspectives and influenced the way she interacts with the world. Her ability to form new connections with anyone she meets allows her to form deep connections with the design storylines she weaves into projects. As the Cultivator of Whimsy, Courtney injects whimsical, ‘WTF’ moments into the spaces she designs, whether they are deeper references to a design story, or fun, off-the-wall items and elements. Her favorite projects to work on are restaurants for that very reason. They give her more freedom to think outside the box and create a unique, unexpected vibe. At home, she’s cultivated a large collection of house plants that allow her to indulge her love of nature and be surrounded by greenery. In all environments she encounters, inside or out, Courtney embraces life and forges deep connections to the world around her with every whimsical step she takes.
