'Asian/Other'<h4>A free and public-facing South Asian Heritage Month celebration, focussing on the overlooked history of South Asian people in the Caribbean</h4><h4>
</h4><h4>Thursday July 4th 2024, 5-9pm, 10th-floor canteen at LCF, Stratford, London</h4>
- Participate in an interactive beading and tapestry workshop inspired by South Asian fashion practices, led by Guyanese designer and UAL alum, Ashaana Bheir.
- Hear from UAL's preeminent Indo-Caribbean scholar, Lainy Malkani - author of Sugar Sugar: Bitter-Sweet tales of Indian Migrant Workers - and gain insight into the history of indentured servitude, whilst celebrating shared memories of cultural hybridity through stories of food and aroma.
- Enjoy the infectious rhythms of Chutney music with DJ Stylz UK, and dance to his unique fusion genre of Indian folk music, specifically Bhojpuri folk music, with Caribbean calypso and soca.
- Indulge in a mouthwatering array of authentic Indo-Caribbean cuisine, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. Enjoy complementary snacks or experience a specially curated menu of regional delights for purchase.

6-7pm: Lainy Malkani educational talk
