About this Event

What do diplomacy and leadership look like when the stakes are high?

Martine and Rachel will explore diplomacy and leadership when they matter most, from moments of crisis and high‑stakes negotiation to the long‑term work of building trust and strong relationships.

Drawing on decades of leadership experience, Martine will reflect on pivotal moments in her career, including:

  • Leading the Australian Red Cross through the Tampa crisis and the Bali bombings
  • Heading the Australia China Business Council during a period of extraordinary growth in the bilateral relationship
  • Steering the Committee for Melbourne through the early days of the fourth industrial revolution and the uncertainty of the pandemic
  • Reflecting on leading Asialink during a time when Australia’s relationships in its immediate region are more important than ever
