Explore how women’s anatomy, natural rhythms, and life stages influence Ashtanga Yoga practice. We’ll dive into how your body, menstrual cycle, and the transition into perimenopause or menopause naturally shape movement, energy, and presence on the mat. Drawing on Ayurveda, physiology, and years of practice experience, Maxi shares practical ways to honor your body’s wisdom while cultivating self-acceptance and ease in practice. You’ll gain insights, tools, and inspiration to move with confidence, compassion, and joy - no striving, just listening and adjusting to what your body needs. This workshop is a space for women to connect more deeply with their bodies, cycles, and life stages and to see how these naturally influence Ashtanga Yoga practice. It is not a physical practice session, but an opportunity to learn, discuss, and gain insights into your practice from a body-positive, intuitive, and honoring perspective.
We will explore:
•Anatomy & Alignment: How women’s bodies are naturally different from men’s and how this may influence poses, flexibility, stability, and transitions. Herein we will explore some of the main themes/movements and poss that can be different. We will consider these differences not as limitations, but as unique aspects of your body that guide your practice. helping you let go of comparison and cultivate acceptance and ease in your practice.
•Hormonal Rhythms: How the menstrual cycle influences energy, joint stability, flexibility, and mood—and how these shifts may appear in your practice. Rather than framing these as obstacles, we will explore how tuning in to these rhythms offers opportunities to adjust your practice and support yourself in each phase. Practical suggestions for honoring your energy and needs will be shared.
•Vata Phase of Life: Entering perimenopause and menopause brings subtle shifts in energy, joint mobility, and overall rhythms. We will explore how these natural changes can be honored and supported in practice, cultivating calm, balance, and resilience. You’ll gain insights on adapting your approach while staying connected to your body’s wisdom.
•Holistic Insights: Maxi brings together Ayurveda, physiology, anatomy, nervous system care and years of Ashtanga practice experience, along with her personal journey through fibroids, pregnancy, motherhood, and perimenopause. She will share reflections from working with many women at different stages of life, helping you explore how to integrate knowledge and intuition into your own practice.
