Ascended Masters & Johnson is Willie Stewart & Fritz Welch performing free form percussion and bits.
The duo have come together to celebrate their love for the parts that come before, in between and after the parts that are expected to be full of intent. The parts in between the parts that go bang, or duff or crash. The duo has spent extended periods of time exercising their right as percussionists to insist on the movement to stop all intentions of rhythm and the parts that are expected to be played with these sorts of instruments. In the case of Ascended Masters & Johnson and the in between, it's the sounds and the lack of responsibility that drives them forward to make people want more of what they don't want, but what their ears need and their brains crave. This is a percussion duo that needs to be placed in front of an audience for no other reason than to seek out these in-betweens.
