Presentation Description- Comprehensive overview of Menard’s ground improvement capabilities and our role in delivering efficient, performance-based foundation solutions. Walkthrough of main techniques used in Florida, including wick drains, dynamic compaction, rapid impact compaction (RIC), grouting, and specialty piling. The session will then take a deeper dive into vibroreplacement Stone Columns and Controlled Modulus Columns (CMC) rigid inclusions. Attendees will get to see real-world applications through case studies of tall building projects successfully supported on CMCs, highlighting design approaches, construction methods, and performance outcomes.
Presenter Description- Matt Mooney is a Regional Manager at Menard, where he has spent the past six years pursuing and supporting ground improvement projects throughout the Southeast. Prior to joining Menard, he worked for seven years as a geotechnical consultant across Florida and Georgia. Matt holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Penn State and an M.S. in Geotechnical/Structural Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in five states across the southeastern United States.
Sebastian Ropain is an Estimating Engineer at Menard, where he has spent the past five years supporting and developing ground improvement projects across Florida and the Southeast. In his role, he collaborates with clients, designers, and construction teams to deliver cost-effective, performance-based solutions for complex geotechnical challenges. Sebastian holds Civil Engineering degrees from the University of South Florida and Universidad del Norte. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Florida.
