As Goes the South: Film Screening + Afterword
The Southern Futures Project invites you to experience an empowering narrative of Birmingham through a new, groundbreaking documentary, As Goes The South, showcasing the cityβs transformation and untapped potential. Hosted by Lost Lectures and On Set ATL we invite you to an evening exploring a new southern narrative.
As Goes the South is a 45-minute documentary revealing the character of Birmingham, as a modern, Southern city fighting for progress. Produced by the Southern Futures Project, it reveals the city hidden behind the outsized reputation of the state of Alabama, highlighting its promise, creativity, resilience and most importantly, its people.
The screening will conclude with an afterword featuring executive producers Ed Fields and Noel Didla, alongside local cultural influencers and creative activations that celebrate Sun Ra, remembered today as the "Godfather of Afrofuturism," who is originally from Birmingham.
