This will be a "hybrid" meeting to allow online participation. (Log in details will be provided as soon as possible).The meeting will consider the drastic collapse in the numbers teaching and studying creative subjects. This has been well documented by trade unions, (“Arts Apocalypse - Time for change in a failing system") – see:
https://neu.org.uk/latest/library/arts-apocalypse
A report is also due to be published on 13 November which is likely to detail the devastating impact in further and higher education.
Our speakers will be:
* Michele Gregson (General Secretary, National Society for education in Art and Design) - invited
* Ed Harlow/Sarah Kilpatrick, (NEU Vice-Presidents)
* Dave O'Brien (Professor of Creative, Art History and Cultural Practices, Manchester University).
* Christina Paine, (NEC member, UCU)
Our speakers will also set out how educators and the wider arts community can push for radical change in their schools and communities - in order to arrest the decline in arts education and to build an education system fit for the 21st century.
