About this Event
The Shape of Memory traces a decade of Fati Genese’s lapidary and inlay art, where shifting colors, materials, and inspirations mark an artist in transformation. Finished works are shown with sketches and photographs that reveal the ideas behind each theme. Interdisciplinary artist Rohini Moradi expands the exhibition with an immersive soundscape drawn from the voices of stones, creating a multisensory meditation on matter, memory, and imagination.
Fati Genese
Fati Genese is an inlay jewelry artist whose work brilliantly moves beyond tradition, shaped by experimentation and storytelling through adornment. She honed her skills through apprenticeships and artist residencies, developing a distinctive stone-forward style . Her collection, Sea Pony Couture, has been featured in Gem Gossip, SNAG, and the Mingei International Museum. In 2021–2022, she embarked on a self-guided studio tour across five states, creating site-inspired collections and sharing her knowledge through lectures on lapidary and inlay. Recent recognition includes the 2024 Shibumi/Grabowski Opal Scholarship and a sold-out 2025 workshop at Brooklyn Metal Works. Across her practice, Genese continues to fuse technique, exploration, and narrative into wearable works of art.
Rohini Moradi
Rohini Moradi is an interdisciplinary artist whose work invites us into intimate conversations between the seen and unseen, the ancient and the emergent. For this installation, she turns her attention to stone—humble, grounding, and often overlooked—as both sonic instrument and sacred witness. Much like her past works incorporating plant-generated music and light-based interaction, Moradi’s practice continues to bridge the mystical with the material. Through sound, she opens a new kind of listening—where transformation begins not in volume, but in attention.
