About this Event
Visit the Jelly studios and observe resident artist Aileen Williams creative process as an abstract work takes shape in real time. Visitors will see how layers of texture are built using intuitive mark-making, material experimentation, and playful decision-making to create depth and dimension. This is a relaxed, interactive environment where you’re welcome to watch the work evolve, ask questions about materials and techniques, and gain insight into how instinct, process, and texture come together in my practice.
A member of Jelly's team will also be around to anwer any questions you might have about the charity and studios.
Just drop by! Feel free to drop in throughout the session and stay for how long you feel.
About the artist
Aileen Williams is a multidisciplinary artist and writer whose practice centers on texture, process, and the transformative power of making. With a BA and MA in English and Writing, Aileen brings a narrative sensibility to her visual work, approaching art as a form of embodied storytelling.
Shaped by years of personal trauma and healing, Aileen’s work has evolved into a space where activism and play coexist. She is passionate about using art to amplify the voices of the voiceless and has led and supported numerous fundraising efforts for social and healing-centered causes. At the same time, her current practice intentionally embraces play, texture, and sensory engagement as acts of reclamation—inviting joy, softness, and wonder back into the creative process. For Aileen, working with texture is both intuitive and political: a way of honouring the body, the imperfect, and the tactile as sites of knowledge and resilience.
Our workshops and events are subsidised and in most cases we are able to offer our workshops for a nominal fee. If you are able we have an option to donate. All donations help us to continue our work to make space for art for everyone every day.
